WAC: The Autopsy of Christ

Reflect:
Tonight we experienced the crucifixion of Christ according to the postings of the Journal of the American Medical Association. The details that were discussed were on the physical death of Jesus Christ. It painful to listen to but much more painful to experience.

Share:
Why is it important to understand these aspects of Christ's crucifixion? Perhaps a more demanding question is did Christ really have to be crucified or could there have been some other way?

Move:
Should the crucifixion of Christ change anything about our spiritual experience? If so, why? If not, why not?
What are you you doing about the crucifixion of Christ? Are you adding to the need for Christ's crucifixion through your sin?
Do you even care?

Let me encourage you to click on the "comments" tab below this you can share your thoughts.

As you enter the church on Sunday morning, I encourage you to look in the Youth Center.

ok to be painfully honest im tired of all this sad crap in church. W.A.C. is supposed to be a time where you forget about the stress of daily life and just have fun worshiping and learning about the lord. the key words there are have fun. no offense but ever since brandon has been our youth paster i have dreaded w.a.c just because of the fact that all it is now are sad songs and it makes everyone feel bad. we need happy things in church to make us want to auctally look forward to it. imagine if tonight a friend was brought to church yall could have turned them off from ever coming back to our church. im pretty bummed over everything about everything. andplease turn up the happy everyones tired of coming to church and just being bombarded with all this sad everything thats not how you reach people you need to create a welcoming enviroment where people auctally want to come

little confused about last night too but think im starting to get it. they wanted us to think and not just be entertained. i heard one of the adults talking that was there and they said they were confused to but figured that might be brandon's point. the whole thing is confusing from our point of view not just last night

I thought last night was one of the most real times for me to think about how Christ was actually a man and he underwent such a painful death I would not wish upon even the people I don't like. I will admit as they were describing how hard it was to breath and yet Jesus spoke 7 times for us words we get to read in our Bibles I cried, the thought of anyone I love going through that much pain is agonizing, accompanied by the thought that He did it for me just broke my heart.

While completely weird the end made me think, Jesus was a man, and He did die, but anyone can just die, if He wasn't God He wouldn't have risen from the dead and without Jesus being the door we would be locked out of Church and separated from God forever, thank you Jesus!

Brandon here. I must admit that I've enjoyed the thoughts and opinions expressed so far. I have a little bit of time that I would like to explain some things. So here we go...

Anonymous #1: The ending of our evening was confusing, as it was for the disciples at the time of Christ's crucifixion. In Acts 1, after Jesus' death, burial and resurrection we find Him with the disciples. He then ascends into heaven right before their eyes. An angel appears before them asking, "Why do you stand here looking into the sky?" The idea is that the disciples were confused. They were confused on that day just as much as they were on the day that Christ was crucified. Last night was the same feeling. When Alex and I left you stood there confused, frustrated, perhaps even mad because you didn't understand it and you didn't know what was next. Perhaps now you have a better understanding of the Scriptures through experience.

First of all let me honestly say thank you for expressing your thoughts and opinions. Honest discussion like this is healthy in our spiritual journey. In order to respond to you properly, let me ask you a couple of questions..
1. Is it the worship or the crucifixion of Christ that you consider "sad crap?"
2. Define "fun" as you are looking for.
In the 7 months that I have been here we have had 3 serious, intense nights. 2 of them were worship nights and 1 was last night. 2 weeks ago all we did was play games in an attempt to have fun. I hate to hear that you dread coming to WAC since I have become the Youth Pastor. The reality of life is that some times life is more than fun and games and as a Youth Pastor I have less than 5 hours a week with you to try to encourage you in your spiritual journey. So my desire is to be intentional about my time with you in order that you grow spiritually. If you have thoughts about how we can liven things up in your opinion please share them with me. I have told this Student Ministry that my door is always open and that I always welcome new ideas and even criticisms. As for the possibility of a visitor being present last night, then they heard the truth of the Gospel if they listened. I would challenge you to ask 10 people if they came to intimately know Christ through fun and games or through someone presenting the truth of the Gospel. I would be willing to bet you that it was through being presented with the truth. A friend once told me, "If they're running like pigs to slop, then you're probably not presenting the whole Gospel." The truth of Christ is harsh and the church's responsibility is not to sugar-coat the Gospel but to present it with boldness and honesty. There's nothing happy about the crucifixion of Christ.
Again, I appreciate your thoughts. If you want to tell me more you can leave a message here but I would really hope that you would come to me so that we could talk face-to-face.

Well that's it for now. I'll write more later.

-Brandon

I'm pretty confident that the songs we've been singing are not sad at all.
We're singing about Jesus and his love for us and that's really the happiest thing we can sing about!

Go make a Twitter and add me??? Yes?? :)

I am extremely impacted by our worship expirence and our message we recieved by Dr. Aldredge and Brandon last night. I thought last night we saw more in depth what we expierenced Sunday morning in worship. After WAC I left shocked, but after reflecting through my own thoughts, I really got a glimpse of what God wanted ME to get out of the service, I believe as a youth minstry it is important to understand the difference between when to have fun and when not to have fun, First Hurst offers ALOT of fun activities, that is why we have a recreation ministry, but I think when we come to WAC we should be PRAISING God for who He is and really TRY to grasp what God wants all of us to get out of WAC that night. Last night was a night to reflect and to remember the sacrifice Jesus did for us thousands of years ago, I believe if you really look into it, Brandon explained it just like the Bible explains The Crucifixtion in John 19 & 20. Look at the scriptures and see how last night, Brandon & Alex was just trying to explain to us what it REALLY means of when we talk about Jesus paying a price for ALL our sins so we can have everlasting life with him, because of him dying for our sins. Remember to always stay GODSTRONG and you will begin to see God at work in your life and it won't be an attitude "oh my parents make me come to WAC" but it would be an attitude of worship. I challenge you to look at scripture and see the meanings of Christ death and remember that is what Brandon and Alex wanted us to grasp and understand, Christ died for us, but do we really appreaciate Him like we should?
